WELCOME TO THE FOURTH COHORT
Your guide to life in the legion
So you’re new to the legion and have just been sorted into the Fourth Cohort. Welcome! My name is Sienna, your friendly neighborhood Centurion, and this is a guide to the necessities for a happy stay in our corner of Camp Jupiter.
First, what is a cohort? Technically speaking, we’re a division of the legion which means we comprise one fourth of the total military force. Practically, your cohort is going to become your family. You live together, eat together, and train together. We’re supposed to work as one unit with one mind. Your fellow legionnaires can become your best friends, your confidants, and people you turn to anytime. Trust me, it’ll only take a week for you to know who snores loudest.
You might be wondering who I am. My name is Sienna, your Centurion, and I’m here, first and foremost, as a resource for you. If you need help with training, integration into camp life, or anything personal, I will help to the best of my ability. It’s not uncommon for legionnaires to shadow me their first weeks, so don’t be afraid to ask!
Now, what kind of responsibilities will you be expected to fulfill during your time as a legionnaire? First up: chores. I know, they’re not fun, but they’re an integral part of making sure our cohort stays in tip-top shape (trust me, you don’t want to fail a surprise inspection!). We have a chore wheel that gets spun once a week. The chores range from items like cleaning to bathroom duty. Not to worry, everybody will have a chance to regularly do all the chores! The other major schedule is the guard duty shifts. Everybody will be expected to contribute to patrolling camp and watching out for trouble. Shifts are usually done solo or in pairs. Any conflicts can be taken up with the Centurion!
One more reminder: in the Fourth Cohort, we require one hour minimum of training every day & curfew is at 11:00 sharp! What about breaking the rules? So, you thought you’d break curfew? Or maybe you couldn’t resist getting into that fight. Depending on the severity of the violation, you’ll likely get a warning the first time. After that, punishments can include the loss of privileges, official citations on your record, and unpleasant duties like trench digging.
So there you have it, your basic guide to the Fourth Cohort. Both I and the rest of the Roman leadership wish you a wonderful time at Camp Jupiter, because really, you can be anybody you want here. Good luck!
